I grew up in the mountains of east Tennessee near the North Carolina border. I had a long career as a history and geography teacher in Virginia and after retirement I discovered a latent ability to express my thoughts and feelings through painting. A new life near the water beckoned so my wife and I moved to North Carolina’s Outer Banks. With the encouragement of my many friends on the Outer Banks I have depicted scenes from my early days in the mountains, my family, and my current life near the sea.
In this picture I am showing one of my new water color paintings showing the church in my Tennessee hometown. My father who was a carpenter and circuit rider minister helped build this church a very long time ago.
